IPSentry Network Monitoring

NT Service Control Add-In
General Information
Version: 4.5.0
Updated: 03.SEP.2002
Requires: Windows NT/2000/XP

The IPSentry NT Service Control Add-In provides IPSentry with the ability to control an NT System service based on the results of a sentry monitoring item. You can START, STOP, PAUSE, or CONTINUE an NT System Service with this Add-In.

Very useful when you are monitoring an NT system service that has stopped and want to issue the equivalent of a NET START. Because this is an add-in, you can make use of the add-in sequence to issue a STOP followed by a START to insure a full restart of the service. With this add-in, you can control services on both local and remote systems.

NT Event Log Monitor

General Information
Version: 4.5.11
Updated: 20.JAN.2003
Requires: Windows NT/2000/XP

The IPSentry NT Event Log Monitor Add-In provides IPSentry with the ability to monitor the Application, Security, or System event logs for specific events. When the event information you select is detected, the alerts configured in IPSentry can be triggered. You select the event log (Application, Security, System, or ALL), event source, and event type to monitor.

NT Performance Counter Monitor

General Information
Version: 4.5.0
Updated: 03.SEP.2002
Requires: Windows NT/2000/XP

The IPSentry NT Performance Counter Monitoring Add-In provides you with the ability to monitor the performance counters available on local and remote NT servers and workstations.

You can evaluate multiple objects, counters, and instances by setting high or low thresholds for the performance data values. In the event of a performance counter going above or below the defined threshold, the add-in will return an alert status code thus triggering configured IPSentry alerts.

SMTP/POP3 Mail Delivery Monitor

General Information
Version: 4.5.3
Updated: 20.JAN.2003
Requires: Windows 9X/ME/NT/2000/XP

The SMTP/POP3 Mail Delivery Monitoring add-in is used to send email through a specified SMTP relay server and check for receipt of that message in the specified POP3 mailbox. If the email message is not received within the time threshold specified, configured alerts will be triggered.

This is the ideal add-in to catch stalled SMTP relay queues, POP3 server errors, and other email delivery path failures which disrupt the flow of your company or customer email. Use this add-in to insure that your email delivery path is running smoothly and without interruption.

If you have ever had a SPAM flood overload your SMTP or POP3 server, you fully recognize the value of this IPSentry add-in component.

SNMP Device Monitor

General Information
Version: 4.5.1
Updated: 20.JAN.2003
Requires: Windows 9X/ME/NT/2000/XP

The IPSentry SNMP Monitoring and Trap Alerting Add-In provides you with the ability to query SNMP values on SNMP compliant devices and generate alerts when those values are either inaccessible or outside of your thresholds.

The SNMP add-in allows you to setup multiple filters to be checked during a cycle - if any one of the values queried match the specified filters, the add-in will return an "ALERT STATE" to IPSentry thus causing any scheduled alerts to be triggered.

The SNMP Add-In can also be configured as an Add-In alert in order to send an SNMP Trap containing information regarding the state of the monitored device. The add-in installation includes our current MIB for object definitions associated with the trap.

ODBC Database Monitor

General Information
Version: 4.5.0
Updated: 03.SEP.2002
Requires: Windows 9X/ME/NT/2000/XP

The IPSentry ODBC Database Monitoring Add-In provides you with the ability to monitor database connectivity and accessibility utilizing local data sources and optionally SQL queries to verify your databases are functioning and responding.

The ODBC Monitor is based on a two step process of being able to connect to the specified data source and then optionally execute a query or SQL command. The result can be compared against the total records returned or simply whether the execute request was successful or not.

IPSentry HTTP/HTTPS Posting Add-In

General Information
Version: 4.5.14
Updated: 20.JAN.2003
Requires: Windows 9X/ME/NT/2000/XP

We have combined two add-in's into one in order to bring you this extremely valuable add-in. This dual-purpose add-in brings the following enhancements to ipsentry in both monitoring and alerting functionality, all in one package:

  • Selection to excluse the use of WinInet libraries for non NTLM required sites.
  • Updated internal web access libraries (Address IE5.5 on NT Issues)
  • Added options to support COOKIES & REDIRECT options.
  • Authenticated server access (Username/Password)
  • Secure (HTTPS/SSL) and unsecured (HTTP) urls.
  • FORM POST results to check query scripts, databases, etc.
  • Define up 200 form fields and values for the FORM POST.
  • Select POST, GET, HEAD, or PUT operations.
  • Use the above features as Alert Notification options - VERY HANDY if you want to post information to a secured and authenticated website.
  • Define Proxy Server and Proxy Port
  • Define Proxy Bypass for local LAN
  • Monitor page modifications and updates.
  • Corrected problem where "Pass Values" list not updated on edit.
  • This add-in does require that Microsoft Internet Explorer (4x or better) be installed on the machine on which it runs in order to access the WinInet libraries. (You don't have to browse with it...)

To run this add-in, you should be sure and upgrade to IPSentry version 4.3.0 or higher.

Known Issues: If used with IE5.0 and HTTPS, there is a problem with the WinInet.DLL shipped with IE5.0 that may cause GPF, Dr. Watson, or a stalled IPSentry application.
**The latest release of IE (5.5) appears to have successfully resolved this issue.
